{"id":4404,"date":"2013-05-15T11:24:53","date_gmt":"2013-05-15T17:24:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/summit-education.com\/?p=4404"},"modified":"2013-05-15T11:24:53","modified_gmt":"2013-05-15T17:24:53","slug":"music-therapy-program-releases-cd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/devsite.hooliv.com\/blogs\/general\/music-therapy-program-releases-cd\/","title":{"rendered":"Music Therapy Program Releases CD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><object type=\"application\/x-shockwave-flash\" data=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/oWbOQKiqYok\" width=\"425\" height=\"350\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/oWbOQKiqYok\" \/><param name=\"autostart\" value=\"true\" \/><param name=\"wmode\" value=\"transparent\" \/><\/object><br \/>\n<!-- generated by WordPress plugin Embedded Video -->\n<\/p>\n<p>Music Therapy patients at Monroe Carell Jr. Children\u2019s Hospital at Vanderbilt have partnered with Nashville community artists, musicians, producers, engineers, and other professionals to create the <em>Everybody Has a Story<\/em> CD.\u00a0 Each song on the CD is the result of a clinical music therapy session involving the patient and music therapist, Jenny Plume.\u00a0 &#8220;One day I thought we are in Nashville, we have amazing artists here. Maybe we could get them to sing the songs and make a bigger production of it,&#8221; Plume said.<\/p>\n<p>This project is a tasting of some of the works by patients over the past six years.\u00a0 Songs were crafted in a variety of ways.\u00a0 Some lyrics were crafted out of a real life experience and some during discussions about patient&#8217;s feelings.\u00a0 Music therapists then used the ideas and words provided by the patient to create a song.\u00a0 The music was written to align with the mood of the song and how the patient envisioned it to sound.\u00a0 Song topics range from serious to silly.\u00a0 For each recording on the CD, the patient and family members had the opportunity to experience the recording studio, meet the artist, and in some cases participate in the recording.<\/p>\n<p>Gigi Paslay, who has been battling leukemia since the age of one, has songs featured on the CD.\u00a0 She says, &#8220;I like writing music. It helps me get out my emotions because it&#8217;s hard.
