This study also aimed to determine if BFR can prevent muscle atrophy after knee surgery.<\/p>\n<p><strong>9 Studies Reviewed: <\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>3 ACL Reconstructions<\/li>\n<li>1 Knee Arthroscopy<\/li>\n<li>4 Knee Osteoarthritis<\/li>\n<li>1 Patella Femoral Pain<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Conclusion:<\/strong> BFR can be more effective at reducing atrophy and improving strength outcomes when used appropriately compared to standard of care in post-operative ACL reconstruction rehab.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Safety Concerns:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Individualized pressure recommendations for UE\/LE<\/li>\n<li>Blood thinner medications<\/li>\n<li>History of DVT<\/li>\n<li>Wider straps are safer than narrow<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Practical Points:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Anoxic environment hurts some.
